Aqua-Terra-Vita is pleased to introduce a revolutionary, patent pending product to the terrarium hobby called TerragieneTM dry substrate conditioner.

TerragieneTM dry substrate conditioner is a substrate additive that fights harmful microorganisms and helps eliminate foul odors in dry terrarium substrates. TerragieneTM dry substrate conditioner can be mixed with dry terrarium substrates like coco fiber, peat, sand and wood chips/shavings, which are commonly used with animals such as Bearded Dragons, Monitors and Uromastyx.

TerragieneTM dry substrate conditioner contains all natural, edible ingredients, which are harmless if ingested by your terrarium animals. TerragieneTM dry substrate conditioner comes in a variety of fragrances like "Spicy Cinnamon", "Spicy Clove" and "Herbal Bouquet".

I just updated and uploaded an article I wrote for the North American Discus Society (N.A.D.S.) publication, "Our Discus". The article, titled "Understanding the Modern Bio-Filter", is located here:

Even though I originally wrote this article 20 years ago it is still very relevant today.

It's spring 2010, and this promises to be another interesting year for me. My breeding projects for this year are more balanced between fish and reptiles than in previous years.

Fish Breeding

Starting in mid 2009, I began looking for few young Angelfish to raise up for breeding stock. I already had a mature female Albino Pearlscale Angelfish, and I was soon able to raise up 2 Koi Angelfish and 2 Black Lace Veiltail Angelfish. The Black Lace Veiltail Angels turned out to be a pair, and the Koi Angels turned out to be 2 males.

On February 13, 2010, I got my first spawn of Angelfish eggs from one of my male Koi Angels and my female Albino Pearlscale:

The offspring phenotypes from this pairing turned out to be quite interesting: 50% Silver Clowns and 50% Gold Marble. The offspring genotypes are also equally interesting: 100% het for albino, 100% het for blushing and 100% het for pearlscale. I'm holding back 30 Silver Clowns and 30 Gold Marbles from this clutch for future breeders.

Reptile Breeding

My reptile breeding for 2010 began with clutches from my 2 pairs of Yellow Saharan Uromastyx on March 5, 2010 and on April 1, 2010. A clutch of Uromastyx dispar dispar eggs is still "in the works".

On March 29, 2010, I got a small clutch of eggs from my oldest male and female "Aru" Green Tree Pythons, who turned 10 years old this year.
